Keep Away From These Adwords Mistakes Many People Make

September 1st, 2010 · No Comments · General News

For a few years now the internet has really increased in popularity. Google launched a decade prior as a website that wanted to provide people for the information they searched for. Three years after that, Google became successful and put out Adwords, an online advertising platform. Google Adwords has, since then, led all other pay per click ad platforms in the market. Google is still ahead of the game because of all the technology it brings to the table and also because of the results people are seeing. There is absolutely no body who can match the company in this area. Why, then, do people not succeed with Adwords when they’re first beginning? Why would people lose money and quit if it’s so great? That’s because they made a few of the following mistakes, which you should take note of so you don’t commit them.

When you’re creating new AdWords campaigns and ad groups, don’t make the mistake of using a bunch of broad keywords that aren’t relevant. This can happen if you think up lots of keywords that are not precisely targeted to your campaign but still seem promising. Remember that using highly targeted keywords is one of the most important principles of AdWords success. Figure out who your target market is. think like someone in this group and ask yourself what they’d be searching for. Use free online services such as Wordtracker or Google’s keyword tool to find keywords, or have a brainstorming session with someone who can help you. You can proceed to the next phases of your campaign once your keywords have been chosen. Moving on to the second common mistake often made by AdWords users, many only have one ad rather than having two or more for testing purposes. In order to reach out to your target market, you obviously must create an ad using relevant keywords. When you only have one ad, however, you have nothing to measure it against to see how it performs. There will be no room for testing. In order to properly test your ads, you have to use at least two and then compare the results. You can then measure your results and pull ads that are not producing results and make changes to them. This technique, which is called split testing, is well known among experienced AdWords users.

Don’t make the mistake lots of people do which is to enter the content network without altering your bidding one bit. The content network is reserved for experts. But if you still do get into it, you have to be careful about your bids. Google recently made a few changes to their Adwords platform which made it so that users could bid differently for the content network and also for the search engine results. That means that if you failed to set a different bid for the content network, you will probably end up going broke. When there are lower prices on your chosen keywords, your CTR will stay at the same level, even after your bidding as gone down.

The point is, you can definitely use Google AdWords to generate targeted traffic, but you have to be sure to avoid the mistakes we’ve discussed here. By forgetting to study your competition or using targeted keywords, you will find it hard to profit from your campaigns. If you do the necessary research into your keywords and niche, you will eventually figure out how to make your campaigns profitable.
